| My experience with Tom was as one of the many H.S. students taught in Murphysboro, IL. from 1980 to 1983. His humanity, humor and love of teaching young people was evident in everything he did. He was different than most teachers in that he encouraged \\\"brainstorming\\\" in our classes. I don\\\’t know if it was his idea or actually part of the curriculum, but we students loved it. We knew that he valued all our answers. We didn\\\’t mind that sometimes he would laugh at answers we came up with, we knew he wanted us to imagine from every angle. Tom Wahlund is one of the educators I think of when I think back to the best ones. He remains in my heart all these years later. I\\\’ll never forget him. | |
